Four-week color theory and portrait drawing fundamentals class with a live model at Northampton Center for the Arts in Northampton, MA. Sundays 2:30pm – 5:30pm, November 15th – December 6th, 2026. One long pose for all four weeks.
Students are responsible for bringing their own supplies. A supply list will be emailed to students prior to the class start date.

This is an introductory class in color theory, color mixing, and classical fundamentals of portrait drawing and light effect. For four weeks, students will be guided through a stage-by-stage drawing process of constructing the head and face in colorful chalk pastel! The pastel provides the opportunity to use a paint-like wash of color for larger areas via pastel stick and to draw in the finer anatomical details via pastel pencil. Students work from a live model and one long-pose for all four weeks. The instruction includes weekly lectures, demonstrations and one-on-one with artist, Rami Baglio. For beginners, intermediate artists, adults, and teens!
About the Instructor

Rami Baglio is a classically trained artist local to Northampton, MA. She graduated from Hampshire College in 2009 and went on to live in New York City for ten years where she earned an M.A. from the New York Academy of Art and began teaching and exhibiting work. She lived in France, studying with Studio Escalier, Italy, studying at Florence Academy, and Santa Fe, NM at the Ryder Studio. She is the recipient of a Merit Scholarship from the Vermont Studio Center, the Nessa Cohen Grant from the Art Students League of New York and the Tanza Lorraine Smith Fellowship. She currently teaches at the New York Academy of Art, PortfolioWorks Paris, the Hartsbrook Waldorf School, and privately.
